Since I previously wrote about linking and embedding YouTube videos and I just had occasion to embed a SlideShare presentation in one of my posts, I thought I’d document how to link to a specific slide in a presentation hosted on SlideShare and how to embed a SlideShare presentation with a specific start slide.
To link to a specific start slide in a presentation hosted on SlideShare, simply add a “/” and the slide number to the end of the path of the slide’s URL.
For example, to link to slide six in my presentation “HTML validation, microformats, jQuery” located at
/6 to the URL:
To embed a SlideShare presentation at a specific start slide, add a
startSlide query string parameter to the URL of the embedded presentation. The value of the
startSlide parameter should be the slide number.
For example, to embed the previous presentation starting on slide 18, you’d use the following:
<iframe src="http://www.slideshare.net/slideshow/embed_code/652569?startSlide=18" width="427" height="356" frameborder="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="no" style="border:1px solid #CCC;border-width:1px 1px 0;margin-bottom:5px" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen></iframe>
