I'm currently the senior developer and information architect at theMechanism – New York where I oversee all aspects of application development. I'm committed to W3C standards-compliant HTML and CSS encoding, the practice of unobtrusive JavaScript development and object-oriented PHP scripting. I also bring a rigorous approach to relational database design to ensure that the solutions developed for clients in North America and Europe are robust, scalable and operate with maximum efficiency. A firm believer in the open source ethos with a preference for the LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP) environment, I'm also a Microsoft Certified Application Developer (MCAD).

Originally from Milwaukee, where I studied philosophy, urban geography and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and worked in the nonprofit sector creating data maps for social advocacy and desktop applications for community-based organizations, I joined theMechanism in January 2007.

I've spoken at an Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) conference and taught workshops on mashup development at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I currently co-organize and speak at the New York Web Standards Meetup Group on topics including accessibility, microformats, the Google Maps API, best practices in AJAX-driven user interface design and natural search engine optimization.
